About Me

Hi, I’m Jay – sarcastic by nature, cheeky by choice, and currently held together by surgical staples, caffeine, and the unwavering support of my dog.

Born in the UK (where a doona is called a duvet and ‘thongs’ are not footwear but underwear your bum regrets), I now live in Melbourne, Australia – after test-driving life on the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Melbourne won. Just don’t ask me to choose between Coles and Woolies — I’m still not ready.

I’m proudly Gen X, which means:

  • I survived dial-up internet and downloading viruses off LimeWire.
  • I knew life before smartphones — and I still kind of prefer it.
  • I watched actual music videos on MTV, not TikTok dances.
  • And yes, I remember the panic of returning a VHS tape unrewound.

Why This Blog Exists

This blog is my space to document my gastric revision journey — the good, the weird, and the protein shakes that taste like sadness and regret.

More than that, it’s a place to:

  • Laugh about the reality of post-op life
  • Rant when needed (because you know, some things (and people) are really annoying)
  • Help others with practical tips, honest reflections, and real support

Whether you’re post-op, pre-op, or just lurking and curious, you’re welcome here.

My Weight Loss Journey

  • In 2015, I had a gastric sleeve and lost over 50 kilos — from 136kg to 84kg
  • Over time, life did its thing and some of the weight crept back (I’ll add a post on this at a later stage)
  • In June 2025, I had a revision to a gastric bypass, starting again at 128kg

A Few More Things About Me

  • I’m obsessed with dogs (mine, yours, random ones on the street)
  • I love my family and friends, even when they try to feed me cake
  • I believe carbs are amazing, and mourning them is part of the healing
  • I don’t take myself too seriously, but I do take this journey seriously
  • If you’re here reading this, you’re already part of the gang 🖤

So that’s me — Jay, Gen X, gastric revisioneer, and your new brutally honest weight-loss-blog friend. Let’s do this, one sarcastic, protein-packed post at a time. 💪🐾
